Memories

When I received the invitation to my newborn nephew’s naming ceremony, I knew this wasn’t just another family event — it was a journey waiting to fill my heart. So on Monday, my mother and I set off to Ghaziabad, ready to be part of something special.

As we reached my sister’s home, a familiar giggle greeted me — it was my niece, whom I hadn’t seen in over a year and a half. Dressed in a cute plazo set, she looked nothing short of a little fairy. The moment I stepped inside, she ran to me, grabbed my hand, and excitedly led me upstairs like I was her favorite guest.

We spent the afternoon laughing and playing. Her cheerful spirit was contagious — it awakened something in me, something innocent and joyful. Her happiness was pure, unfiltered, and it brought my own inner child out to dance.

The next morning, as I got ready for the ceremony, she sat beside me admiring my jewelry and accessories, wide-eyed and smiling. For a moment, it felt like the function was being held in her honor — the way she gleamed with joy and excitement. She kept calling me “Oui” — her own sweet way of expressing love. That one word held so much warmth, it made me melt every time.

Later, sitting in the calm atmosphere of the prayer, surrounded by smiling faces and gentle chants, my heart felt full. There was peace in the air, a quiet kind of happiness that settles deep inside your soul. I felt lighter — like I had been blessed not just by rituals, but by love.

This wasn’t just a trip to attend a naming ceremony. It was a journey of reconnection — with my sister, my niece, and myself. It strengthened the bonds of family in the most beautiful way. In those few days, I didn’t just witness the beginning of a new life, I also felt a new closeness bloom within my own.
