My First Bird Walk Adventure at Lakshmanpuri Bird Reserve

One day, I stumbled upon a new adventure on social media—a bird-watching walk organising by Atavi Bird Foundation! I registered immediately. The plan was sudden, but I couldn’t wait to go. The theme was “wild colors,” and I packed all my safety gear, ready for the morning adventure.

The meeting point was PGI Hospital. In my hurry, I had skipped breakfast, but a kind chana chaat vendor near the temple saved the day. As I enjoyed my snack, the soft bhajans playing in the temple touched me deeply. I realized how lost I had been feeling lately, and in that moment, I surrendered my emotions to God. A small act of gratitude later, I complimented the vendor for his work, and it felt wonderful to connect with someone so simple and kind.

Soon, I called the organizer Prateek to pick me up at the main gate, as the location was far from the hospital entrance. While waiting, I met someone who was also joining the trek. His calm voice instantly put me at ease. Thankfully, he came to pick me up—his name was Sandeep. We struck up a short conversation and became friends almost immediately.

Finally, we reached the starting point of the bird walk, where I met Prateek, the leader of the expedition. The journey began with capturing beautiful moments of birds through our cameras. The forest was magical, with rooted and branched trees giving it a mysterious vibe. Along the way, we spotted colorful butterflies, adding more beauty to the adventure.

What made this experience even more enriching was learning about the different bird and butterfly species. Among us was a young lady pursuing her PhD on butterflies, and most participants were students or enthusiasts eager to share knowledge. We exchanged our learnings, experiences, and perspectives, making the walk not just fun but intellectually stimulating too.

Our group of 25 people shared conversations, exchanged talents, and connected effortlessly. By the end of the walk, we clicked group photos and swapped contacts, celebrating the new friendships we had formed.

This bird walk wasn’t just an adventure—it was an experience of nature, learning, self-reflection, and connection with wonderful people. A day that started as a spontaneous plan turned into one of the most beautiful memories of my life.
